Matt Mariota, Brother Of Marcus Mariota Is A Linebacker – All About Their Family
Marcus Mariota’s younger brother, Matt Mariota, followed in his older brother’s footsteps. He plays linebacker.
In sports, it is an unspoken rule that younger brothers do not attend the same university as their older brother, but Matt did just the opposite.
Matt decided to attend the University of Oregon, where his brother had rewritten history textbooks. Marcus set record after record with the Ducks before being taken as the second overall choice in the 2015 draft by the Tennessee Titans.
Perhaps it was the strain of carrying on his brother’s legacy that prevented him from genuinely shining on his own. And now, even his once-talented sibling is struggling in the NFL.
The internet can be harsh at times, and it was certainly nasty to Marcus Mariot last night. Fans questioned the Atlanta Falcons quarterback’s signing after his poor performance against the Carolina Panthers.

Many younger siblings try to avoid attending the same institution as their brothers, but Matt was not one of them. He chose to rush toward it rather than away from it.
Matt Mariota picked the University of Oregon, where his brother set multiple records and won every major individual quarterback award before winning the Heisman Trophy in 2014.
Matt would not have picked the University of Oregon if he hadn’t won a scholarship from Honolulu’s Saint Louis School and had garnered little interest from other schools, unlike his brother. Matt was unable to make it into the NFL.
In an interview with USA Today on 2017, Matt stated that his elder brother was the most offensive influence in his career. Matt stated, “He’s actually quite helpful. After every practice, he and I will text each other. He wants to see several movies and will critique me on specific points.”

Marcus Mariota’s mother, Alana Deppe-Mariota, is of German heritage and a former athlete. And the mother of the two football players chose to stay at Chaminade rather than accept a swimming scholarship from Pepperdine.
Marcus, a star football player, made waves in college after scoring on a front-flip. If anyone was offended by the NFL player’s antics, his mother texted him not to do it again.
It’s not like Toa and Alana have exclusively concentrated on their oldest son. Alana previously stated that their younger son Matt is the family’s best athlete.
Family of Marcus Mariota
Marcus Mariota is from a mixed-race household. His father is from Samoa, and his mother is from Germany. Marcus’ family went to great lengths to see their kid flourish on the football field.
Toa and Alana sold their Hawaii home to assist their son break into the NFL. His parents spent a lot of money to take their son to numerous premier football camps. Marcus was able to meet coaches who noticed his skill thanks to them.
On the Hawaiian island of Oahu last year, the quarterback married his longtime girlfriend and high school sweetheart Kiyomi Cook. Kiyomi Cook played as a midfielder for the University of Oregon soccer team.
She attended Sam Barlow High School and was an important member of the squad. Marcus and his wife are not on social media, and Mariota stated in 2015 that he is not on social media.
Cook graduated in 2015 with a BS in Human Physiology and Psychology and worked as a soccer coach at the University School of Nashville from 2015 to 2019 and Father Ryan High School from 2016 to 2020.
The pair has yet to have children, and with Marcus attempting to replicate his college days in the NFL, it may be some time before we hear about the couple becoming parents.
