The summer might be well and truly behind us, but it is only just getting started at London’s O2 Arena as ‘Mamma Mia! The Party’ is underway.

The famous London venue has been transformed into the Nikos Taverna, a purpose-built Greek restaurant in an old town square, where guests dine on a four-course mediterranean-style meal.

The silver screen phenomenon bursts to life with an interactive performance from the cast, who perform a hilarious new story adapted by the comedian Sandi Toksvig, along with the iconic ABBA hits.

The storyline centres around a secret romance which takes place amid the hustle and bustle of the family-run Nikos Taverna, as performed by professional West End and Broadway actors including Fed Zanni, Steph Parry and Linda John Pierre.

The night soon turns into a carnival atmosphere as party-goers start singing and dancing along to ABBA’s timeless classics.

The event, originally co-written by ABBA member Bjorn Ulvaeus, first opened in Stockholm in 2016 before coming to London in September 2019.

Having made its return to London, the show is now running until April 3, 2022.

The opening of the show coincided with the announcement of ABBA's reunion, much to the excitement of fans.

Every detail has been thought of on this paradise island, making this interactive experience as life-like as possible, from the tourism office, to the souvenir stand and the authentic Greek menu.

Diners are invited to feast on a traditional Greek meze sharers including breads, dips and olives, followed by a starter of Greek salad, a main of souvlaki-grilled lamb and chicken, or chargrilled cauliflower, followed by a dessert of Greek orange cake or portokalopita. Veggie and vegan options are also available.

Satisfied customers have taken to TripAdvisor to recommend the experience.

One TripAdvisor user said: “The best party ever. From the second we joined the queue everyone connected with Mamma Mia, we got inside and it literally blew us away! It was better than anything I could have imagined.”

Another added: “We had so much fun. I could not stop smiling and singing while watching all the videos we recorded. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to have a good time with friends or family.

There are plenty of fun surprises over the course of this five-hour experience, but ABBA fans can expect to enjoy plenty of drink, drama and disco before the night is up.
